Walvis Bay, Namibia, Africa

It was definitely a new cruise stop since we parked in the middle of the working port – complete with cargo containers, real-life Tonka trucks, and cranes everywhere.

View from our balcony while we waited for our immigration number to be called.
It was cloudy, chilly, and windy in the morning. The cruise shuttles are parked between the trucks!

Our immigration number was called around 10 am and we headed out in long pants and sweatshirts.

For immigration we reported to Deck 5 dining room and met face-to-face with officials from Namibia. We got a stamp in our passport and off we went!

Royal Caribbean had a shuttle taking passengers from the ship to the Dunes Mall. I tried to take as many pics as I could from the bus!

We took a route through neighborhoods and even saw a school! Beyond the edge of the city was DESERT! Dunes and sand all around.

The mall was a modern mall with clothing shops, restaurants, and grocery stores!

I was looking specifically for some yarn so I could make a few more projects and we found some! In both a craft/book store and the grocery store! We spent $1,600 Namibian Dollars at the craft store – no worries – it was less than $100 USD 😂 and not all on yarn!

We stopped for a coffee and snack at #Mugg&Bean. It was a light snack and our total bill for 2 coffees, a bottle of sparkling water, and chicken sliders was less than $15 USD.

Our snack! Chicken sliders and fries!

Our final stop at the mall was the grocery store. As you all know, we have to stop at grocery stores at each stop. This one was like so many others – what appears to be just random stuff next to food items.

We did find a few snacks – no Diet Coke – more yarn, and Pringles before heading back to the ship.

There were a lot of cargo containers at the port and we wondered what and where things were going. 🤔 Will need to investigate.

At the port we visited the big trucks!

Look closely – dunes in the background!
Future counter tops!

Touch-a-Truck day happened!

My new car! I would love to drive this out in the desert!

Back on the ship we snapped a few more pictures, had lunch, and just relaxed again! We did have to go to customs again when we got on the ship – another Passport stamp!

We finally left port around 9:30 pm. Our next stop – Cape Town, South Africa!

Last-minute Wonderings…we didn’t see any gas stations – where were they?…Is there a layer of dust all the time?…Where are all the cargo semis going (there were over 20 semis leaving port around 7 pm)?…There was a lot of construction all around – are they expanding towards the desert? Is this going to become a regular cruise stop? Crew couldn’t buy things because the mall didn’t take USD – only credit cards…
